about me
I am a Choreographer, Dancer, Artistic Director, and Dance Educator. What distinguishes me from others is my extensive experience. Originally from Portland, Oregon, I felt the desire to pursue a career as a professional dancer and choreographer at the age of 12 when I became a principal dancer for the Northwest Afrikan American Ballet (NWAAB) under the guidance of Artistic Director Bruce Smith. For seven years, I traveled across the United States and Europe, performing and sharing our art. NWAAB provided me with the chance to perform in a month-long tour at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
During 2000-2001, I was a Company Member with the renowned Jefferson Dancers in Portland, OR, under the direction of Steve Gonzales. We toured the country, performing and training in Ballet, Jazz, African, and Modern dance with some of the world's leading choreographers. I continue to contribute by choreographing African and Hip Hop pieces for the Jefferson Dancers.
In Portland, OR, I danced for the WNBA Portland Fire Jam Squad, the Portland Trail Blazers Hip Hop Squad, and the Rip City Crew. For the past 29 years, I have conducted dance classes at various local studios. I have had the privilege of choreographing for professional teams, collegiate teams, and high school teams throughout the USA.
While living in Los Angeles, I trained with many prominent choreographers in several styles. In addition to my ongoing training, I was fortunate to debut my choreographic work at local showcases and performance venues in Los Angles, hold a weekly dance class at IDA Hollywood, and collaborate artistically with artists for various video shoots and auditions. These experiences helped me establish my roots in Los Angeles, CA.
Although I am grateful for my roots in Los Angeles, CA, I currently live in Portland, OR, where my passion for dance and movement first ignited! As an Artistic Director, Educator, Choreographer and Dancer; I continue to create and choreograph dynamic and engaging pieces that are performed for diverse audiences all around the World.
